SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Two Colorado residents have been arrested in Bullitt County as part of a multi-state drug investigation.

For the past seven months, detectives with the Bullitt County Drug Task Force have been part of an investigation involving the distribution of marijuana. Early on May 5, detectives stopped a car coming from Colorado and seized eight pounds of mid-grade marijuana. The marijuana has a street value of approximately $16,000. Also found in the car was liquid marijuana that could be used in vapor e-cigarettes.

Arrested were Joshua Eric Ford, 34, and Lesa Nelson, 32. Each was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections on a charge of trafficking in marijuana. Ford is also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license.

The drugs were found hidden inside a speaker box in the trunk of the vehicle. The box had to be taken apart to recover the marijuana.

Captain Mike Halbleib, director of the drug task force, said more arrests are expected.
