Kentucky tourism up from last year

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Tourism contributed more than $12 billion to the Bluegrass economy last year. That is up more than two percent.

State tourism, Arts and Heritage Secretary Bob Stewart said that the popularity of bourbon and the uptick in meetings and conventions will be key factors in Kentucky's ability to attract more visitors this year.

The reopening of Kentucky Kingdom later this month and the PGA at Valhalla this summer are expected to help boost that number.
