Hardin County teacher heads to Washington, D.C.

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Kentucky teacher headed to Washington, D.C. to meet with the Second Lady of the United States Jill Biden.

Hardin County technical education teacher Brooke Whitlow was selected as one of 19 teachers to have a private meeting with the Vice President's wife as part of Teacher Appreciation Week.

Whitlow learned about the opportunity through Twitter. "I didn't tell anyone I applied so when I got the e-mail from the White House, I forwarded it to my principal and we researched to make sure it was real," said Whitlow. "It's such a blessing."

Whitlow left just before 6 a.m. Wednesday.
