LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An employee of Ford Motor Company is charged with theft after allegedly stealing gasoline and parts from the plant where he worked.

Employees at the Kentucky Truck Plant on Chamberlain Lane noticed parts were going missing from a warehouse. On May 4, a security guard noticed a diesel truck and box trailer belonging to Stephen Whitworth, 50, of Leitchfield, KY, were parked near a fence at the warehouse. The security guard saw Whitworth throwing two items over the fence and called the Louisville Metro Police Department, according to court records.

When officers confronted Whitworth, he gave a recorded statement that he had taken two fuel pumps, the report says. Officers say they found the fuel pumps in the back of Whitworth's trailer in addition to several large barrels.

On May 5, employees found that a large amount of diesel fuel had been spilled where Whitworth had been parked. The report says that Whitworth ran a hose underground into a nearby warehouse and was siphoning fuel from containers in a there to the barrels in his trailer.

Whitworth is charged with two counts of theft.
