Woman killed in Marion County after losing control of car, crashing into semi

LEBANON, KY (WAVE) – A woman died after losing control of her car and crashing into the back of a semi.

Kentucky State Police are investigating the collision which happened Friday, May 9 just after 2:30 p.m. on U.S. 68 in Lebanon, Kentucky.

Elizabeth Pittman, 36, attempted to pass another car in her 2001 Nissan. She was unable to do so because of oncoming traffic, according to Trooper Logan Richardson.

Tpr. Richardson said Pittman steered back into her lane, lost control and dropped off the shoulder, causing her to steer back onto the road and hit a semi truck in the rear of the trailer.

The driver of the semi was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Pittman was wearing a seat belt, as well, but was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Coroner.

The roadway was closed for several hours as investigators reconstructed the collision but is back open at this time.

Marion County Fire, EMS and Rescue also responded to the scene.
