JASPER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County deputies suspended the search for a missing Hollywood woman for the rest of the day Tuesday without any new clues.

Late Tuesday afternoon, deputies said they were suspending search activities in Beaufort and Jasper Counties for 77-year-old Julia Ann Mudgett, whose car was found at a boat landing on Tutens Landing Road in Ridgeland.

A dive team searched the water and marshes in the area for any trace of Mudgett but found no new clues on her whereabouts, deputies say.
Later Tuesday afternoon,  officials combed the three-mile stretch of Big Estate Road in Yemassee.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office confirmed Mudgett's missing  burgundy 2002 Hyundai Elantra was found around 4:30 p.m. Monday at the boat landing, which is near the Coosawhatchie River.

Authorities said they had no reason to believe Mudgett was here, but divers were searching the water and the nearby marsh along with other boat landings in the area.

The incident is still being handled as a missing person investigation, but officials say they believe that foul play is involved in Mudgett's disappearance. Search efforts are planned to take place in Beaufort and Jasper Counties Tuesday.

The vehicle was towed back to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office where it will be processed as part of this investigation.  Officials continue to work with authorities in Beaufort, Bluffton, and Jasper Counties in a continued effort to locate Mudgett.

Mudgett was reported missing from her Hollywood home on Tuesday, May 6th, two days after anyone last heard from her.

Captain Joseph Manning with the Bluffton Police Department says they are investigating a separate incident involving the death of an elderly woman, and are comparing notes with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office to determine if there is a connection between the two cases.

Mudgett's church has announced plans to hold a vigil for her Wednesday evening.

There is no suspect in custody at this time.
