Officer makes quick arrest after cell phone theft

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – When a Louisville Metro police officer was making a routine check at a business he walked in while a crime was taking place. A short time later, he had the suspect in custody.

The officer was at a business in the 4900 block of Poplar Level Road when a man took an iPhone belonging to the manager and walked out. The officer searched the area and found the man in the back of Thomas Jefferson Middle School on Rangeland Road.

After being stopped, police said Maceio D. Williams, 18, admitted to taking the phone.

Williams was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking.
