LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The man who died after being shot in Dosker Manor has been identified as a resident of the complex.

Rita Taylor, a Jefferson County deputy coroner, said Richard L. Spencer, 29, was pronounced dead just before 7 p.m. May 13 at University of Louisville Hospital. Taylor said Spencer died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Lt. Todd Kessinger of the Louisville Metro Police Department Homicide Unit said Spencer was shot in the torso and upper body. Investigators believe Spencer, who used a wheelchair, was the intended target.

The shooting was reported around 5:50 p.m. near an elevator on the 12th floor in Building A of the three building high rise public housing complex.

A woman wounded in the shooting, whom Kessinger said was 40 weeks pregnant, underwent an emergency caesarian section at UofL Hospital. According to Kessinger both she and the baby are expected to survive.

Kessinger said the woman wounded was not a target and appears to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
