LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary for incidents that occurred one week apart, police say.

Wendell Phelps, Jr. is accused of breaking into a home and stealing property valued at $2,700 on April 27. Phelps, 52, is also accused of stealing copper worth $1,000 from another home on May 4.

A co-defendant in the first burglary admitted to being a lookout while Phelps broke into the home and stole medicine and a computer, according to court records.

A witness in the second case heard Phelps say there was "all kinds of stuff" in the home on Florence Avenue, the report says. The witness reported seeing Phelps leave the home with the stolen copper.

Phelps is charged with two counts of second-degree burglary.
