SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY (WAVE) – One of two district court judges serving Bullitt County will soon be off the bench serving a 30 day suspension.
The Judicial Conduct Commission said Judge Rebecca Ward failed to disqualify herself in a case where she had a bias.
On other occasions the commission said she threatened the sheriff and his deputies with contempt and jail time to influence the assignment of deputies as her bailiff and held people for U.S. Immigration and Customs without legal authority.
Ward has been a district judge since 1999 and is running unopposed for re-election.
The commission says she cooperated with the investigation and completed a counseling program.
Her suspension will begin when the other Bullitt County district court judge returns from vacation.
