LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Here are 10 things Kentuckiana will be talking about today:

1: Storm chance: There is a chance of storms this afternoon that could have gusty winds and small hail. The WAVE 3 Storm Tracking Team will monitor the forecast as the day continues.

2: Shooting: A man was sent to the hospital after an overnight shooting near Churchill Downs. Police say a bullet grazed his head.

3: Click it or ticket: If you're getting ready to hit the road, buckle up. Kentucky State Police begin their annual campaign today to keep drivers safe.

4: Serious accident: A driver lost control and went airborne off Poplar Level Road around 3 a.m. this morning, landing on another car in the westbound lanes of the Watterson Expressway. The road was closed for several hours, but is back open at this time.

5: PRP principal: A report on Pleasure Ridge Park High School Principal David Johnson says he committed "gross financial misconduct." He has elected to retire.

6: Gender identity: A Jefferson County high school's site-based decision making council voted to add a non-discrimination policy that includes gender identity after a transgender teenager pushed for the change at Atherton High School.

7: Cold water challenge: A cold, drizzly day is perfect weather for one of the latest crazes to sweep social media. Have you heard of the cold water challenge? It's splashing its way through the town of Salem, Indiana, bringing a bright spot to a story that will otherwise break your heart..

8: Sworn in: After a nearly 12-hour long hearing, an interim mayor was named and sworn in by the Hodgenville City Council. The council voted unanimously to remove Terry Cruse after he and Hodgenville City Clerk Madonna Hornback were accused of fraudulent behavior.

9: Circus in town: As the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey trot into Louisville, safety concerns remain at the forefront of many parents' minds following a horrific May 4 accident in Rhode Island that sent nine of the circus acrobats to the hospital.

10: Bug forecast: This past winter ranked as the 19th coldest in Louisville's 142 years of keeping records. Now that we have turned the calendar and warmed things up there is one question a lot of people have been wondering. How did that long winter affect those bugs and pests we dread during this time of the year?
