LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – After Louisville Metro Police arrested the man wanted in an April murder, detectives also charged the person who they said gave him shelter.
Kelen Slaughter, 22, was arrested May 15 at his home. Homicide detectives looking for Leroy Morris in connection with the April 29 murder of Johnny Hebert say Slaughter allowed Morris to stay at his apartment.
Detectives said when they questioned Slaughter he denied knowing Morris and said he and his daughter were the only ones in the apartment. After detectives secured the apartment Morris came out of a back bedroom and surrendered.
Slaughter was arrested for hindering prosecution or apprehension. After his arrest, police found a bag suspected to be crack cocaine and another bag containing unknown pills. An additional charge of possession of a controlled substance was placed against Slaughter.
