State trooper wounds man in Marion County shooting

COLUMBIA, KY (WAVE ) – A man is being treated after he was shot a Kentucky State Police trooper.  

According to Trooper Bill Gregory of the KSP Columbia post, the shooting happened at a home in the 8000 block of St. Joe Road. Around 9:10 a.m., two KSP troopers and one officer from the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement division were asked by the Marion County Sheriff's Office to go to the home on a suicidal person. 

About six minutes after arriving at the home, Gregory said a trooper fired shots injuring a man inside the house. The wounded man was taken to Springview Hospital in Lebanon for treatment. 

The events leading to the shooting have not been released as KSP continues their investigation.  

Gregory said neither of the troopers or the CVE officer was injured during the incident.
