7-year-old killed in crash identified

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The Jefferson County Coroner's office has released the identity of the 7-year-old girl who died in a car accident in Pleasure Ridge Park on Saturday.

Ella Ralph was pronounced dead on the scene after suffering multiple traumatic injuries, Deputy Coroner Sam Weakley said.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the 7200 block of Terry Road at Rivers End Road near PRP High School.

According to Alicia Smiley, spokeswoman for the Louisville Metro Police Department, the driver of a Jeep was attempting to pass a car going southbound on Terry Road when he collided head-on with a Chevrolet going northbound carrying four people, including three young girls.

The driver of the Jeep was taken to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other three passengers in the Chevy had minor to moderate injuries.

LMPD's Traffic Unit continues to investigate the cause of the crash. No charges have been filed at this time.
