LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville man is now under arrest after a hit and run involving a motorcycle this weekend.

James Smith, 82, turned himself into Louisville Metro Police. He is charged with failure to render aid and leaving the scene of an accident.

The crash happened May 18 on Interstate 71 between the Gene Snyder Freeway (I-265) and the Oldham County line when Smith made an illegal U-turn in his pickup truck and hit the motorcycle.

In the arrest report, police say Smith admitted to knowing he had been involved in the crash and seeing the motorcycle down in the roadway but leaving anyway.
