RADCLIFF, KY (WAVE) - We all remember our first time. The first time you went on a date. The first time you drove a car. You probably remember the first time you voted. For one Hardin County woman, this primary election day was a very special day for her.

RaMona Craig came to the United States from Germany when she was 15. She's renewed her green card several times over the years.

"I didn't know if I was going to say here forever, but I had my family and I was like it's about time," said Craig.

Twenty-one years later, Craig finally decided to make her plans more permanent and became a U.S. citizen last year.

"Just finally belonging for sure, just finally being American," said Craig.

Craig did what most Americans did on Tuesday. At age 37, she voted for the first time and finally has a voice.

"I always hear people complain about the government and I say ‘who did you vote for?' And, they said ‘Oh, I didn't,'" said Craig.

Even though there weren't long lines at the polls where Craig was voting, she's waited a long time to do this.

"It went well," said Craig casting her ballot. "It was easier than I thought! It's a great country and it's really worth just living here and doing the things you can do here. The freedom. I'm going watch the news and see who won. I'm hoping they are going do what they promised to do."

Craig says she will be voting from here on out.
