Woman hits husband with car in restaurant parking lot; charged with murder

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville woman is charged with murder after hitting her husband with her car.

According to an arrest slip, Toya Mathis, 28, was arguing with her husband, Thaddius Thomas,31, at the Incredible Dave's on Westport Road on May 19. Mathis was driving her Dodge Charger and intentionally struck Thomas who was standing in the parking lot around 10:30 p.m.

Police say the impact caused Thomas to strike the front of the car, fly in the air about 5-10 feet and land on the parking lot. At that time, he was unconscious and unresponsive.

Thomas was transported to University Hospital and died in the critical care unit at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20.
