Cats steady in Top 10 at NCAA Championships

No. 11 University of Arizona women's golf completed the third round of play at the NCAA Championships on Thursday and currently sits in a tie for sixth place. Hosted by Tulsa and held at Tulsa Country Club (par 70, 6,194 yards) in Tulsa, Okla., competition is being held Tues.-Fri., May 20-23.

No. 3 Duke leads the team race with an 856 (+16). No. 1 USC moved up to second place with an 862 (+22). No. 7 Oklahoma rounds out the top three with an 866 (+26). No. 11 Arizona, No. 5 Arizona State and No. 17 NC State share a three-way tie for sixth place. The Wildcats have daily rounds of 298, 286 and 287 for a total of 871 (+31). No. 5 Celine Boutier of Duke and No. 33 Doris Chen of USC share the individual lead with scores of 207 (-3).

No. 18 sophomore Lindsey Weaver shares a three-way tie for 11th place. She shot a 72 (+2) on Thursday for a combined score of 213 (+3). Junior Manon Gidali carded a 74 (+4) in the third round and holds a total of 214 (+4).

Firing a 69 (-1), junior Kendall Prince moved from tied for 58th to tied for 35th during round three. She has a score of 219 (+9). No. 57 freshman Wanasa Zhou improved to tied for 77th place on Thursday. She shot a 72 for a total of 225 (+15). Freshman Jessica Vasilic rounds out the Arizona five in a tie for 116th place and a score of 233 (+23).

On Friday, No. 11 Arizona tees at 9:26 a.m. MST/PT. The Wildcats are paired with No. 17 NC State and No. 31 Tulane.
