LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A barbecue dinner sponsored by a church group raised money to send children to summer camp, especially those who might not otherwise able to go.

The group, Portland Memorial Baptist Church Camp, Inc., associated with the church on West Market Street, asked for $10 donations at a chicken and ribs dinner on May 24.

Faye Wilford, director of the group, said the camp has been around for 46 years. "We've been doing it for boys and girls, aged 6 to 14, that live not just in our church but the entire Louisville Metro area," she said.

The money will be used to send kids to Cedarmore Camp in Bagdad, KY, for a week in July.
