LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The family of former NFL player and St. X football coach Will Wolford issued a statement Sunday night after the drowning of a 9-year-old boy at the Wolfords' home.

"The Wolford family is devastated by this weekend's tragedy," the statement reads. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to [the child's] family as they deal with unimaginable grief."

An ambulance rushed the child to Kosair Children's Hospital after someone at the Wolfords' home on Waterleaf Way in Crescent Hill made a call to 911 around 3 p.m. on Saturday.

A spokesman for Louisville Metro Police said the child died on Sunday.
