1 arrested after police find $100K+ in stolen air conditioners

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Louisville Metro Police have discovered more than $100,000 worth of hot air conditioners along with stolen construction tools, kitchen appliances and lawn tools.

The discovery was made when police executed search warrants on buildings on Queen Avenue and South First Street. With one arrest has been made.

Daniel Rice, III is charged with receiving stolen property. Police haven't ruled out that there might be more stolen goods related to this case and more suspects.

"At this point, we haven't been able to develop that," said Dwight Mitchell, a LMPD spokesman. "Hopefully as a result of this today, anyone with any additional information can call Louisville Metro Police at 574-LMPD."

Metro police want to return the recovered property to its rightful owners. If you believe some of it may be yours you can see the items for yourself. Police will have the items available at the LMPD 6th Division headquarters, 5600 Shepherdsville Road in Park Jefferson Center, on Thursday, May 29 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday, June 3 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Police say you must have proof of ownership before an item will be released to you.
