LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man who robbed two people of a cell phone and then offered police a bribe to let him go free.

An arrest report says Deyon Lorquette Hayden, 39, of Louisville, approached two people on the street and asked to use their phone. As the two began walking away they said Hayden began following them. Hayden then reached behind his back and said "if you don't give up the phone I'll shoot both of you." After one of the people gave Hayden their phone he walked away headed north on Preston Street.

Officers found Hayden at Preston Street and Muhammad Ali Boulevard with the phone he had taken. He was arrested and charged with robbery.

The report states that after Hayden had been placed under arrest he offered to pay police $1,200 to let him go. For that, Hayden was charged with bribery of a public servant.
