Support pouring in for teen carrying brother with cerebral palsy 40 miles

TEMPERANCE, MI (Toledo News Now) -

Support is pouring in for a local teenager who plans to carry his brother on his back for 40 miles.

The inspirational story of Hunter Gandee and his brother, Braden, who has cerebral palsy, has reached a national level. They've even captured the attention of legendary rockers and a professional baseball team.

To raise awareness of cerebral palsy, on June 7, 14-year-old Hunter will carry his 7-year-old brother on his back for two days. The pair will travel from Bedford Junior High to the University of Michigan wrestling center in Ann Arbor.

Support for this walk is growing.

Dave Mustaine, lead singer of Grammy nominated rock band Megadeth, tweeted about the boys' cerebral palsy walk and has pledged to donate $100 for every mile they walk.

The boys have also been invited by the Detroit Tigers to be their guests at an upcoming home game in June, giving them a huge opportunity to tell thousands more about their cause.

"I think it is awesome. I mean, just helping us spread the word, and really, the Tigers, it's awesome. We get so many opportunities," said Hunter."Yeah, it's truly a dream come true."

The boys call their walk "The Cerebral Palsy Swagger." Money donated will go to cerebral palsy research at UM.
