WAVE 3 News partners with Make-A-Wish to help the wishes of sick children take flight

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Help wishes take flight by donating your frequent flyer miles to Make-A-Wish Kentucky!

Make-A-Wish grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. More than 75 percent of the wishes granted to area children by Make-A-Wish involve air travel. Each year, Make-A-Wish provides approximately 500 airline tickets, the equivalent of more than 27 million airline miles, to help Kentucky wish kids and their families travel to and from some incredible experiences. Currently, more than 170 Kentucky children are waiting for their wish to come true.

Join WAVE 3 News in supporting Make-A-Wish by donating your Delta, United or US Airways miles or dollars to Friday's Mile-A-Thon. The minimum donation is only 1,000 miles. Donate by calling our phone bank at 502-571-3333 between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Friday, May 30. You can also donate your miles online by clicking here. Please have your FFM account number and the number of miles you can donate ready for the phone bank volunteers.

Every mile counts. Once donated, these miles will never expire and are consolidated with other miles received to send wish kids and their families on the trip of a lifetime.

Our goal is to raise one-million airline miles through this year's Mile-A-Thon.

Don't have miles? You can donate money by clicking here. Cash donations help Make-A-Wish cover the cost of wish expenses from travel to rental cars to medical equipment needed during a child's trip.
