I-65 South near Seymour reopened after pavement failure

SEYMOUR, IN (WAVE) – A section of Interstate 65 south has reopened after a problem with the roadway south of Seymour caused it to be closed Thursday.

Harry Maginity with the Indiana Department of Transportation said part of the roadway suffered a major failure of the pavement.

The left lane has been closed as part of a $54.7 million construction project that is renovating the interstate from Seymour to Scottsburg. The right lane is now under repair by the contractor. The repairs are expected to be completed by 7:30 p.m.

A detour from Highway 50 at Seymour onto U.S. 31 South, then back to I-65 south at the 41 mile marker was set up while crews worked to fix the problem.
