LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville man is facing charges that he tried to run over a group of young girls while a police officer watched.

The arrest report says around 9 p.m. June 1, a Louisville Metro police officer was taking a report at Crittenden Drive and Warnock Street on an unrelated matter when he heard four young girls screaming and running. A few seconds later, the officer saw a red Toyota squealing its tires.

The officer said on three occasions the Toyota turned into the parking lot where the patrol car was located and circled back toward the girls. After the car sped off down Warnock the girls told the officer that the driver of the car was trying to run them over.

While the officer was talking with the girls, the car came speeding back and ran through the stop sign at the intersection. Police stopped the Toyota and arrested the driver, James A. Wilson.

Wilson, 28, of Louisville, is charged with four counts of wanton endangerment, operating a vehicle on a suspended license, reckless driving and disregarding a stop sign.
