The Reds started a season long home stand by extending their season best win streak to four games.
Devin Mesoraco's two-run home run highlighted a four-run Reds first inning off San Francisco starter Tim Lincecum, starting the club's best offensive night in more than a month.
"These guys have been playing great, you know, they have one of the best records in the league," said Mesoraco about the Giants. "To go out there and get the first win of the series is very important, but we need to come back tomorrow and get another one."
Jay Bruce knocked in career RBI number 500 and had his first multi-hit game since April.  Billy Hamilton had two hits and stole two bases to raise his season stolen base total to 22.
"It's fun being fast," said a laughing Hamilton after the win.
Homer Bailey allowed three earned runs in six innings, but did pick up his sixth of the season.
The Reds and Giants continue their series at GABP on Wednesday.
