Giants stifle Reds four-game win streak

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Reds season long four-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday with a 3-2 loss to the Giants. Tony Cingrani suffered his sixth loss of the season after giving up all three runs in the sixth inning.

Michael Morse opened the dreaded sixth with a solo homer, then Juan Perez followed that up with a go-ahead two-run shot to give the Giants a 3-2 lead, and the best team in baseball never looked back.

"He just hit a fastball. I threw it right down the middle," said Cingrani. "Obviously [Perez] was waiting for it, because that's what I throw."

"He started that inning with 82 pitches," said Reds manager Bryan Price. "Two quick outs, and a solo homer would've been no big deal. [Cingrani's] still got good stuff."

Cingrani (2-6) was pulled after 5 2-3 innings. He allowed six hits, walked three and struck out seven in his fourth straight loss since returning off the disabled list.

Todd Frazier gave the Reds a 1-0 lead in the third with his eleventh homer of the season. Jay Bruce doubled that lead with an RBI double that scored Brandon Phillip. Billy Hamilton went 3-for-4 with no stolen bases. He was caught stealing once.

The Reds and Giants play for the rubber match of the series Thursday at 12:35 p.m.
