Woman cut in domestic dispute, man crashes vehicle after police chase

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man who cut a woman during a domestic dispute is being treated for his injuries after crashing his vehicle while fleeing from police.

Dwight Mitchell, a Louisville Metro Police spokesman, said the incident started around 10 a.m. in the 3000 block of Algonquin Parkway. According to Mitchell, the preliminary investigation shows the man and woman, who police say were acquaintances, were driving in the Park Hill neighborhood when they got into an altercation. The man pulled a knife, cut the woman, pushed her out of the vehicle and fled.

Mitchell said when other officers located the vehicle a short time later they tried to make a traffic stop, but the driver sped off. He lost control on Greenwood Road near Daffodil Lane, striking a tree and an occupied vehicle. The driver fled on foot, but was arrested after a short chase.

The woman is being treated for minor injuries at University of Louisville Hospital. The fleeing driver is also being treated at University for non-life threatening injuries.

Mitchell said charges against the driver are pending.
