The Contemporary Dance Theatre and the Llanfair Retirement Community have come together for a very unique performance.
The project started in the fall of 2013 when residents of the Llanfair Retirement Community began sharing their life stories with the Contemporary Dance Theatre. Choreographers then took the residents' stories and brought them to the stage through the art of dance.
Sheena Parton, executive director at Llanfair Retirement and resident Peggy Kehrer appeared on The Xtra Thursday morning.
A memorable part of Kehrer's life -- the return of her boyfriend from the Vietnam War -- will be performed by the Contemporary Dance Theatre this Sunday. The Contemporary Dance Theatre were on The Xtra Thursday morning to give a preview of the show.
Other performances based on the Llainfair residents' lives include childhood memories, war time stories, ethnic backgrounds and future dreams for the world.
The performances can be seen at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Llanfair Retirement Community Campus Center Green Room and again at 8:30 p.m. June 13-14 at 8:30 p.m. at the Aronoff Center for the Arts, downtown.
Llanfair is located at 1701 Llanfair Ave., College Hill.
