JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) – Two men are charged with burglary and auto theft after a police officer sitting in her marked car said she spotted them trying to break into an auto parts store.

The Jeffersonville police officer was parked and doing paperwork when she heard a security alarm go off. She said she looked over and saw two men trying to break into Tony's Muffler and Auto Service. Trice Whale and Michael Baines were arrested a short time later.

Clark County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jeremy Mull said he does not see cases like this very often. "Well, I can tell you that if more criminals operated on this level of intelligence it would make my job a lot easier," he said.
