NORMANDY, FRANCE (NBC) - President Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin met briefly Friday while attending D-Day anniversary events in Normandy.

White House sources confirm the two had a brief conversation that lasted nearly 15 minutes.

It's the first meeting between Obama and Putin since Russia's intervention in Ukraine and disputed annexation of Crimea.
