LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The University of Louisville baseball team beat Kennesaw State Saturday, advancing to the College World Series for the second year in a row.
The Cardinals took a 5-4 lead in the 5th inning off a two-run home run by freshman Nick Solak, which turned out to be the deciding factor. On Friday, Solak had a two RBI double in the 8th inning of Game 1, lifting the Cards to a 5-3 victory.
A single to right by Cole Sturgeon in the 6th added two more runs, pushing the lead to 7-4. Sturgeon is one of eight current Cardinals selected in the 2014 MLB Draft. He was selected in the 10th round by the Boston Red Sox.
The Cards managed to hold on to the 7-4 lead, earning their third trip to Omaha since 2007.
