Reds lose; Cingrani loses job?

Pitching to save his spot in the Reds starting rotation, the Dodgers beat up Tony Cingrani Monday night in the series opener at Great American Ball Park.
The Dodgers scored six times off Cingrani to beat the Reds 6-2.  Cingrani's season record drop to 2-7.

"It was challenging and I'm sure it's frustrating to (Cingrani)," said Bryan Price after Monday's loss.  "I think he's more than capable, as he's shown, of being a guy who can pitch deeper into the games than he has recently.  We're high on Tony, I just think he's scuffling."

Mat Latos is expected to be activated for his season debut this weekend and Cingrani appears to be the odd man out of the Reds rotation.

Ryan Ludwick hit his fifth home run of the season for the Reds, but hit into a rally killing double play in the 8th inning with the bases loaded and nobody out.

"That was an opportunity for sure," added Price.  "But, we need to have more opportunities than one or two a game to really blow something open."

The Reds host the Dodgers Tuesday night.  Mike Leake is scheduled to start on the mound for the Reds.
