LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Caught by loss prevention at Home Depot, a Louisville woman admits to her involvement in a scam.

From October 2012 through June 2014, Tiffanee Simon, 39, said she had been part of an organized crime ring with at least six other people. The group stole merchandise from stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart and Victoria's Secret, and then returned the goods for store merchandise.

The group would sell the gift cards for cash in order to support a heroin addiction.

On June 10, Simon was stopped with $232 worth of Home Depot merchandise in her purse. An arrest report says Simon sold around 80 gift cards for a profit of over $13,000.

Other members of the ring have been indicted or plead guilty to similar offenses.

Simon is being charged with engaging in organized crime and receiving stolen property.
