Mavericks and Pelicans to play at CenturyLink Center

From the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission:

Bossier City,  LA:  Officials with the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, the City of Bossier City, and CenturyLink Center are excited to announce a NBA  sanctioned  preseason game between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Dallas Mavericks at the CenturyLink Center on Thursday, October 23, 2014 with tip off  at 7:00 p.m.  The match-up comes as a result of continued diligence and determination along with unbelievable support from our local partners and businesses. "We couldn't be happier to host these two teams in October in Bossier City at the CenturyLink Center.  It not only provides a great event for our local citizens to attend but will also bring thousands of sports enthusiasts from other parts of Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas," said Don "Bubba" Williams, Bossier City Councilman and SB Sports Commissioner.

Kelly Wells, VP of the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission commented,  "When we first met with the Pelicans about hosting the game we knew we wanted it and so we fought hard to bring it here even though other cities were very interested in hosting this key preseason match up.   It was also very important to the Pelican's ownership to keep the game in Louisiana and they are thrilled to have it in Bossier City.  I have already felt the excitement from the local community and fans from across Louisiana and East Texas of showcasing two of the most popular NBA teams in our region".  It is important for our communities and the Ark-La-Tex to support this event wholeheartedly and our partners have gotten behind us to help make it happen.  With tickets starting at only $12.00, we wanted to ensure that this event was affordable and accessible for the entire community.

The game at CenturyLink Center is the final preseason game for both teams.  "The CenturyLink Center is thrilled to add this NBA preseason match up to our roster of first-rate entertainment events for 2014.  Hosting two professional level sports teams that have such a large mutual fan base in our region is very exciting. The support from our area will certainly serve as a testament to the brimming enthusiasm for sports that we all share in the Ark-La-Tex." said Jake Wood, Director of Sales & Marketing for CenturyLink Center. -

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Fri-day, June 20 starting at 10 am at the CenturyLink Box office and online at Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-745-3000, or at any authorized Ticketmaster Outlet.   Group/Military rates are available.  For game sponsorship opportunities, please contact Kelly Wells at kwells@sbctb.org or 318-429-0651.
