(WMC) - Melissa Vincent was a stay-at-home mom in Hernando, Mississippi until photographic creativity on a popular social networking site changed her world.

Known as "misvincent" on Instagram, Vincent has amassed nearly 400,000 followers on the photo-sharing site. Her photos show a creative side of Mississippi, including dreamlike images of flowers, birds, donkeys and even the moon.

She started using the popular app to send pictures, many taken with her iPhone, to her sister in California. But soon - the rest of the world took notice.

"I've had pictures from all over the Delta, Tunica, I go there a lot, Oxford, around and Hernando, of course," said Vincent.

Vincent's knack for using photos to bring things to life has attracted the attention of ad agencies, who pay Vincent to continue sharing photos with her large following.

"I have a passion for making art on my phone," added Vincent.

Her pictures may be worth a thousand words, but companies advertisers realize they are also worth close to a half of a million eyes.

Dos Equis beer paid for Vincent to go to New York and meet 'The most interesting man in the world.' All she had to do: keep posting those pictures.

"We posted about five or six photos in that day, for the weekend, each day and put the hash tag #staythirsty, thanks Dos Equis," noted Vincent.

The unexpected social media career has taken Vincent on a worldwide adventure a long way from Hernando. A National Geographic editor, who admired her Instagram photography, invited Vincent to travel to Botswana, Africa and Hawaii.

There, Vincent had the opportunity to meet Dereck and Beverly Joubert, a couple who shoots documentaries and helps preserve African wildlife. Her task while touring Africa? Post five Instagram pictures each day.

Social media has taken Vincent a long way from Hernando. She says if a stay-at-home mom like her can do it, so can anyone else.

"Being social, that's the number one thing. Liking other people's photos, commenting, finding things you have in common with other people, hash tagging your photos with the correct hash tag."

Fun fact: When Vincent is creating her Mississippi art for Instagram, she does so in her bathtub because it helps her to relax and let her creativity flow.
