2 arrested in heroin bust on EKU's campus

MADISON COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – Nearly 80 grams of heroin, scales and hundreds of dollars in cash were confiscated during an undercover drug bust on Eastern Kentucky University's campus.

According to the Berea Police Department, the discovery was made inside a campus apartment after Catherine Leake, 27, and Neal Stone, 38, sold heroin to an undercover Berea police officer.

Sgt. Jake Reed said the bust was one of the biggest the department had seen, "Not only are they on campus, but this a very significant amount of drug.  The largest drug bust, well, amount of heroin we've seen so far."

Officers said while Leake was being booked in she tried to hide a small rock of heroin in her hand.

Stone was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance. Leake was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and possession.

Both Leake and Stone bonded out of the Madison County Detention Center shortly after they were arrested.
