Race Director Chris Martin says, "I started the Great Pacific Race to give others to experience the beauty of the ocean. We're thrilled to be working with 4KNET to bring the excitement and beauty of the first ever human powered race across the Pacific to life for those who are watching from land. Our rowers will face incredible challenges and witness moments of outstanding natural beauty. We're so excited to be bringing those moments to others in the ultra-high definition of 4K."
Producer/Director Peter Murphy Crowley says, "When I first met Chris Martin and he described to me this incredible adventure across the Pacific I was instantly hooked and was very excited about the opportunity to capture such an event in the highest resolution possible, 4K video." The action and scenery of the Great Pacific Race lends itself to this kind of filming and high resolution imagery. The Race will be captured from its start in Monterey all the way to its triumphant end in Hawaii in 4K. All the race and support boats will be equipped with 4K cameras to document this incredible journey.
Cree Crawford, Principal at 4KNET: "I always find it incredible how chance meetings evolve into incredible opportunities, create memorable experiences, and bring new friendships to your life.
"I read about Chris being in town scouting and seeking local support. I reached out to him as this [race] was very intriguing. I was absolutely amazed by Chris' story and the race program! I knew this would be a perfect partnership for my company 4KNET with my partner, Producer / Director Peter Murphy Crowley. We had been looking for the ultimate project for us to put our efforts into and I brought up Chris and The Great Pacific Race… It was a no brainer. It just clicked. THIS was an incredible subject matter that we felt would bring tremendous visual and REAL HUMAN DRAMA! We contacted Chris and the rest (ongoing) is and will be history in the making!"
