LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man arrested in connection with a
shooting picked up additional charges when police found that he had a gun with an
unreadable serial number in his pocket.
Ernest Bacon, 51, was arrested on June 18 on charges of first-degree assault
and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. According to his arrest
warrant, Bacon was involved in an argument with another man on July 5, 2013 that escalated into a shooting.
Police say that Bacon returned fire after the other man shot at him. Both men were injured. The other man was arrested and charged with first-degree
When Bacon was arrested, police found a
loaded semi-automatic pistol in his pocket, according to his arrest report. The
serial number was scratched off. He is charged with possession of a defaced
firearm and another count of possession of firearm by a convicted felon.
