E.Coli detected in sample, Boil Water Advisory issued

Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, IN (WAVE) – A Boil Water Advisory has been issued for several customers in Indiana after a sample tested positive for E. Coli.

According to the Edwardsville Water Corporation, the advisory went into effect for Edwardsville Water Corporation and Greenville Water Company customers on Thursday after a routine water sample detected fecal contamination from one of their wells.

Edwardsville Water Corporation is continuing to collect and test samples to determine the extent and source of the contamination.
Customers in the area are advised to bring all of their water used for drinking, making ice, preparing food and washing dishes to a rolling boil for one minute and let it cool before use.

The advisory will remain in effect until further notice, but the Edwardsville Water Corporation is anticipating the issue will take at least six days to correct.
