The kick-off of the 10th annual Service for Peace Backpack Angel Program was held at the Hubbards Lane McDonald's on Thursday.
Former UofL Basketball coach Denny Crum stopped by the event.
A LMPD horse was there for children to pet.
Children toured the LMPD helicopter.

During the kick-off of the
10th annual Service for Peace Backpack Angel Program the McDonald's on Hubbards
Lane donated $1 of every Bacon Clubhouse sandwich sold to the Backpack Angel
In addition to donating a
portion of their sales the restaurant also set up a place for residents to
donate school supplies.
McDonald's Owner Brittney
Barnett said, "School will be coming up in August and you can't really have too
many school supplies for all the kids, so we wanted to start now."
Special guest such as
former University of Louisville head basketball coach Denny Crum stopped by to
support the program. Louisville Metro Police Department also joined in,
allowing children to tour the department's helicopter and pet a horse from the
