Man arrested in New Orleans East homicide

A 50-year-old man has been charged with second degree murder for his involvement in a homicide in New Orleans East, police say.

Lawrence Jackson, 50, was arrested on Monday.

Police initially stated that Jackson was a person of interested in a bloody homicide in New Orleans East. The incident happened around 8:10 p.m. Saturday in the 5100 block of Bayou Court.

Officers say that they received a call of a man bleeding. Crews arriving on the scene entered the apartment and saw signs of a struggle. Police say they found a victim lying on the floor with blood on his body. 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner ruled the incident as a homicide.

New Orleans Homicide Detectives stated on Sunday that Jackson was not a suspect in the incident. Officers stated that they wanted to speak to Jackson about the incident.

 

Authorities announced Monday that Jackson had been arrested and charged with second degree murder.
