According to the warrant, on June 12 Thompson used a recorded phone line at the jail to call his mother. During the call Thompson asked her to call the victim for him. He wanted her to tell the woman that he admitted his guilt in the domestic violence assault case he was being held on and say that he loved her.

Thompson also wanted to woman to stop answering calls from the County Attorney's Office and to write him in jail using her middle name as her last name. Prosecutors said Thompson's actions were a deliberate attempt to influence the outcome of the court proceedings and induce the victim not to show up in court.

Thompson had been ordered to have no contact with his former girlfriend. She has a domestic violence order in place against Thompson until May 2017.
