Suspects charged after reported carjacking attempt

SHIVELY, KY (WAVE) – Two western Kentucky men are facing charges after a reported carjacking in Shively.

Shively police were called to the area of Dixie Highway and Heaton Road around 10:50 p.m. June 21 and found a groups of men who appeared to have been in an altercation minutes before.

When questioning the groups, one man said that Peyton Stone, 23, of Henderson, KY, was driving away in his vehicle and struck them with the car. Police were also told the man with Stone, James Varble, 46, also of Henderson, had pointed a gun at them. Varble admitted to officers that he pointed the gun at the men. He told police where it could be found in the vehicle.

Stone was arrested on two counts of assault. Varble was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment and one count of carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Both men remain in custody at Louisville Metro Corrections.
