SPRING HILL, TN (WSMV) -

Police canvassed the Hardin's Landing community in Spring Hill on Tuesday after reports that a woman was nearly abducted while out on a morning walk.

A 25-year-old woman told police she left her house on Cadence Drive around 10:15 a.m. She says she stopped at the community playground and came out on the next street to head back home when a man, who seemingly came out of nowhere, tried to abduct her.

"She was able to force her way free, and in doing that, she received a bruise to her face," said Lt. Justin Whitwell with the Spring Hill Police Department.

The woman told police she did not know the man.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early 30s and was driving a white four-door vehicle with lightly tinted windows.

Police said the woman is safe now, but things like this don't usually happen in Spring Hill.

"That's the odd thing is that time of day, in the light of day. It's just kinda odd that somebody would try to attempt to do something like this," Whitwell said.

Freddie Turner, who lives across the street, says she walks in the neighborhood four times a day.

"It shocked me to death! Because I thought this was a very, very secure neighborhood," she said.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Spring Hill Police Department.
