LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A state park in Louisville is inviting families to camp under the stars on Saturday as part of the 10th annual Great American Backyard Campout and to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Kentucky State Parks.
The National Wildlife Federation coordinates the event to encourage people of all ages to camp and connect with nature.
At E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, the event starts with tips and tricks on basic campsite setup. There will be a chance to learn archery, hike, participate in field games, swim in the pool, enjoy stories and s'mores at the campfire and stargaze with the Louisville Astronomical Society.
The fee is $25 for a family of four and includes all activities and a hot dog and chips dinner.
