Rantankerous [ran-tank'uhr-us] (adjective) - A combination of rant [to speak in a wild or extravagant manner] and cantankerous [contentious, disagreeable]. The word is the only suitable description for the arguments between Brian "What We Learned" Tynes and George "Hot Reads" Jones.

(RNN) – Like everyone else across this great country of ours, we have World Cup fever, and by “World Cup fever,” we mean one of us is mildly excited about the U.S. team making the knockout round and the other wishes it would just all go away.

It took some prodding, a raised voice and invoking a certain late-night TV host to get the job done, but George eventually stated the name of one of the teams in the U.S.-Belgium match when asked who would win. His rationale, however, was a bit flimsy.

But there was something George found pleasing this week, and that was a late pick in the NBA draft that no one other than himself is talking about. Even the emotional story of Isaiah Austin, who was told his career is over due to a rare defect, being given a special draft pick by the NBA wasn’t enough to soften Mr. Jones’ rough exterior.

This week’s weird news included a pregnant woman running a race and a 50,000-year-old remnant of one of your ancestor’s meals.

Speaking of meals, there’s some controversy surrounding hot dogs. Are they sandwiches? We get to the bottom of this conundrum using the world’s most trusted source for these kinds of matters: Wikipedia.

(Brian actually admits to being wrong, and you know you don’t want to miss that.)
