Police still searching for 'armed and dangerous' suspect in triple shooting

ORANGE COUNTY, IN (WAVE) – Two of the three suspects wanted in a shooting that killed two men and injured a third are now in police custody.

According to Indiana State Police, around 6:15 p.m. Friday James Davidson, 36, was located at his brother's home on Hogtown Road, near Marengo.

Davidson, along with Elbert Brooks, 48, and John Carpenter, 35, were wanted in connection to a shooting that killed  Nick Fields, 56,  and Cory Harris, 25,  and injured Daniel Smitson,  29, in the 2300 block of North County Road 200 West on Monday, June 23.

Police took Brooks into custody around 10 p.m. Wednesday after police located him at an apartment complex in the 200 block of South Main Street in Marengo.

Officers are still searching for Carpenter who is described as being 6' tall and weighing 175 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair; however, he is believed to have a shaved head currently. Photographs of Carpenter indicate he recently had facial hair. 

Investigators said Carpenter is considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Indiana State Police at 1 (812) 482-1441 or 911.
