NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

A 43-year-old man was shot 14 times on Sunday morning inside of a New Orleans East apartment, police say.

The shooting happened in an apartment located in the 12100 block of the I-10 Service Road around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

The parents of the victim say he is a Delgado business student. They say he was on his computer studying when the gunman came in and opened fire.

"Bullet to the chest, bullet to the belly, bullet to the right arm right hand, left arms, his legs, his groin," said Albert Greenleaf, the victim's father. "He crawled from the bedroom out to the front door to get help. If he would have been lying on his back, he would have drowned in his own blood."

The victim's sister said there is so much crime in New Orleans; she'd like to see more police patrolling the area.

The family hopes someone will call Crime Stoppers with a tip. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 504-822-1111.
